Christ Church Swindon Summer 2014

THE CHALLENGE:

Christ Church asked Woodberry to provide a curved bench to fit a circular paved feature in their of their garden of reflection. When considering the location and available space, a full circle was not suitable but benching to occupy about half the circle's circumference was best.

WOODBERRY'S SOLUTION:

Woodberry produced designs for 3 specially made benches based on our Dorchester Range, at 1.6m long on an outer radius of 1.8m with gaps of approx 0.4m to enable easy access. Our customer replied “Thanks for your prompt reply. That is exactly what we are after.” Further details were discussed such as materials and fixing options to ensure that Christ Church’s requirements were entirely met.

THE OUTCOME:

Woodberry delivered the benches on time. Christ Church commented on Woodberry’s service by saying “Thanks for your excellent service” and expressed their satisfaction with the benches by saying “Everyone is very complimentary about them.”

THE REQUEST:

To transform an unwelcoming area prone to vandalism into an attractive spot, promoting a sociable atmosphere in which passers by are encouraged to linger and enjoy the rural surroundings. This was to be done partly through the provision of bespoke benches, made to fit an existing paved area. However it needed to be designed is such a way that it would deter people from lying down along the bench.

WOODBERRY'S SOLUTION:

Woodberry worked closely with Guildford Borough Council during the design stage, and designed a circular backless bench to fit the paved area perfectly, resistant to vandalism, divided at regular intervals by armrests. Made with a welded galvansied steel frame with solid recycled plastic top slats fixed with security fixings, this was the answer to be resistant to vandalism. The regular arm-rests met the need for a deterant to people lying down along the bench. Being circular, it created an attractive area to stop and chat, whilst being backless, it offered the option of viewing the surrounding area just as easily. Made here in our workshop in Leamington Spa, this was manufactured to a very high standard of Quality Control.

THE BENEFITS:

Woodberry’s capability to not only manufacture a high quality bench, but design seating to meet the needs of Guildford Borough Council meant that the client could get what they required from one source, with the confidance that they had Woodberry's broad product knowledge and experiance supporting them coupled with the attentive Customer Service that Woodberry has.

WHAT THE CLIENT SAID:

"With bespoke I was worried whether it’s going to fit properly … we were relying on accurate measurements from you and it fitted perfectly"
